personality; After an incident involving a minor god named Yato, a cat named Uesama, and a bus, Hiyori Iki's life is radically changed from how she knew it.

Being raised in a reputable and strict household of doctors, Hiyori's life was comfortable and pretty normal in her opinion. She was a good student, living a typical school life with a couple of close friends, Yama-chan and Ami-chan, and was on track to graduate high school to eventually become a doctor like her father before her. Originally, she was a girl with little to no ambitions of her own and she kept to herself, for the most part. Nothing compelled her but to do what was expected of her by her mother and father and society as a whole. To the point that she would hide her one passion for martial arts (and her "god" Touno, a martial artist she's extremely fond of and finds inspiration by his never give up attitude) from her mother to avoid disappointing her with such an "unladylike hobby".

Hiyori's first reaction to things changing in her life is a pleading, "Put me back to normal!" to the god Yato and handing over five yen to make her wish come true.

The respectful and politely conservative daughter she grew up as has changed since then, but Hiyori still harbors much of the morals she was taught as a young girl. What's right and what's wrong, for one. If anything, her moral compass has only gotten stronger with the experiences she's gone through after meeting Yato and his shinki, Yukine, later on. She's now far more likely to intervene in any wrongdoing done to her or others after her inaction regarding Yukine's constant bad behavior was nearly the cause of Yato's death. As the daughter of a doctor, she carries the mindset that if there's something she can do, she must help others no matter what. In any way she can. Sometimes Hiyori takes this to the extreme, at the risk of her safety and well-being. After all, she is introduced to the audience by saving a total stranger from getting hit by a bus by throwing her own body in harm's way and "dying" in the process.

While she's always been a nice girl, Hiyori isn't a weakling by any means. Much of her strength lies in her mental fortitude. Sometimes that means believing in others. Sometimes that means having the courage to believe in herself. A portion of that belief was always within her, but some of it has been born from gradually becoming more confident in herself and who she is as a person. Yato's father, the antagonist of the whole story and someone Yato himself is afraid of, tries to threaten her at school but Hiyori only responds with a "Bring it on!" After his subsequent attack on her family's hospital for this choice, which ruined the lives of not only her family but the lives of others, Hiyori gets her first dose of tragedy. Although initially, she succumbs to that despair, Yato's reminder that she's not alone brings her back from the brink and that she has to right her perceived wrongs.

Things aren't all bad after meeting Yato and Yukine, though. Far from it. Not like she initially thought, anyway. The two have become irreplaceable and precious to her. They influence her choices in a lot of cases. When given the option of going back to her old life and being normal at the price of giving up her memories of Yato and Yukine, Hiyori refuses outright. In meeting the two, she's been introduced to more people and friends (and enemies turned friends) than she might even know what to do with. In every instance, however, Hiyori proves that she is a kind, loyal, and compassionate girl who frequently chooses others over herself in most cases. She often gives people the benefit of the doubt and would rather understand than make unfair judgments. She invites Yato's long-time enemy, Bishmonten, to a sakura viewing and a picnic so the two can make amends and get along for the sake of their shinki. Without Yato and Yukine's presence in her life, inadvertently teaching her some really important lessons about life, Hiyori might not have ever been able to grow as a person or come out of her shell.

With all this change, though, Hiyori is still by and large just a normal girl. Any kind of teasing and flirting or creepy stalker behavior (Yato) or awkward situation gets her flustered super easily. She gets caught up in the moment, in fun, like anybody else. She makes mistakes and will probably continue to make mistakes like most humans do, but her heart is true and she is always willing to own up to her faults. To apologize and learn from them.
abilities; Half-ayakashi Transformation
Hiyori's soul can slip out of her body, leaving her physical body asleep. This means her existence lies somewhere between an ayakashi and a living human.

Although Hiyori can activate this phenomenon at will, sometimes her spirit leaves her body behind without realizing it. Hiyori's cord is only present in her half-ayakashi form and takes the appearance of a pink cat-like tail. This cord acts as a lifeline that connects her physical and spirit forms. She will die if it is severed, and crushing or tugging on it causes her extreme pain. Her cord can also disappear if she spends a long time outside of her physical body. Hiyori is more nimble as a half-ayakashi than as a human and she is so light that she can walk on power lines.

REGAINED?
Physical Combat:
In her half-ayakashi form, Hiyori acquires enhanced strength, speed, and agility. Most of her ability is largely in thanks to Touno as any martial arts she picked up from watching him. Because she's such a good student, she can reenact these moves perfectly in real life but she tries not to fight unless necessary because of the cord thing.

As a normal human, Hiyori has some fighting ability with her love of mixed martial arts, but is not nearly as fast or strong as she is as half-ayakashi.

REGAINED?
Clairalience:
As a half-ayakashi, Hiyori possesses a very strong sense of smell for beings of the Far Shore. She can pick up a god or spirit's scent and discern between individuals, even across long distances.

REGAINED?
Supernatural Senses:
Unlike most humans, Hiyori can perceive creatures from the Far Shore. She inherited this ability to a certain degree from her maternal family. Even before becoming a half-ayakashi, she can see gods. She gains the ability to see shinki, loose spirits, and ayakashi after the change.

REGAINED?
Memory Reading:
Hiyori seems to have the ability to look into the memories of others. She unintentionally uses this ability to look into Yato's memory of his childhood by using her soul cord. If this ability was to be used at any point, I would ask permission from a player first.

REGAINED?
Animal Transformation:
Upon drinking her chosen potion, Hiyori can transform into a pink gorilla. She's nine times stronger than she would be as a normal human and can lift over 1763 lbs (800 kg) of dead weight, which is roughly twice as much as a well-trained weightlifter. She also has a bite force of 1300 PSI and a punch force of 1300 to 2700.
